Broadband Issues

We need your help to get real broadband from a reliable provider! Please submit the form below to help get reliable broadband for our area!

Many of the neighborhoods in and around the Long Island Airpark are suffering due to the lack of availability of broadband internet service. The official FCC broadband definition is a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. For many of us in the area, Centurylink DSL is the only solution offered, and the available speeds are only 10Mps download. This is not even half the speed of broadband.

Our HOA is working with other nearby neighborhoods to bring our concerns to the Catawba County Commission. We need our residents and neighbors to make a statement about how this issue is impacting your family, household, or business. Our goal is to get the county to work with Spectrum Cable (which offer service nearby on Hopewell Church Road) to expand into our area with their high-speed broadband service.

By submitting the form below, you agree to allow us to present your concerns to the Catawba County Commission and Internet providers.

Some concerns you might like to include regarding lack of broadband:

    • Unable to reliably run a home business

    • Unable to work remotely

    • Inadequate speed to support your household (for example, inability to watch streaming movies as a family, children unable to perform online research for school or education

    • Difficulty completing online classes or training

    • Frequent outages

The more detail you can provide about how lack of broadband impacts you, the stronger case we can make to the Catawba County Commission.
